We have our main consulting function and four sub consulting verticals, namely;
Main function: Expert Diagnostic Consulting
EDC limited, has a product called Expert Diagnostic Consulting (EDC). EDC delivers value by segregating our clients processes into groups and then we build a custom diagnostic test by grading your business practices from “A” (excellent) to “D” (poor) showing the interdependencies of your processes and how improvements in any one of them will lead to improvements in all interdependent processes. We then grade each of your processes A to D which will identify where you are in terms of performance, identify why you are there and steps to be taken to improve to the next higher level.
Apart from examining business performance and maturity, we also look at process integrity and how these processes lead to accurate and trusted data suitable for business reports. We then access your how efficiently the organization interprets and uses these reports to drive the business to its highest levels of efficiency and profitability.
The EDC model is a tool designed to provide an objective assessment of the strengths and weaknesses of key components of a company’s processes and can be customized and used for any business vertical. The grades A to D are drawn up jointly between our teams to come up with grading outcomes that are SMARTER – Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, Time bound – Evaluated and Re-evaluated, before being adopted for the diagnostic evaluation.
The EDC assessment provides a baseline that informs a companies management on areas in need of improvement so that they can prioritize, plan and sequence responses/interventions
EDC assessments:
⦁ Identify the relative strengths and weaknesses in systems, processes, and procedure.
⦁ Create a shared view on the condition of the system among all stakeholders (e.g., Management, shareholders, partners, staff and technical providers).
⦁ Set the reform agenda, including reform objectives, priorities, initiatives, and implementation sequencing.
⦁ Facilitate coordination of external support for reforms and achieving more efficient implementation.
⦁ Monitor and Evaluate reform progress by way of subsequent repeat assessments.
ERP process & business process audit
The gaps most businesses face are usually caused by the mismatch between written process, and the actual physical procedure carried out by the work force due to operational misalignment. We identify these gaps by documenting the physical processes and mapping them against policy. We then reach agreement with the organizations management as whether to adopt the written process or rewrite the policy in line with the practice.
Today, most business processes will be automated. ERP systems can have high levels of complexity or inflexibility but more often than not, the out of box processes are based on international best practices that do not align with our process. Once again we look for the best way align the physical process with the requirements of both policy and system outcomes.
Once a new updated policy document can be drawn up that matches practice, policy and systems process and we measure and achieve desired outcomes, it become easier for the organization to operate without hesitation leading to immediate improvement in efficiency. EDC has worked with software developers in application design development and deployment to align applications designed for the (NPDC) National Petroleum Development Company with business outcomes.
Corporate & Individual Performance Management Solutions
Budgeting provides a systematic way of reviewing estimated with actual results, coordinating future activities and setting realistic targets, which are inputs for measuring performance. Government organization mandates are not always measured in terms of monetary output, such as the value of investing in primary education or healthcare where success is not measured in monetary terms, but rather in education results that may take decades to come. Private sector organization’s performance is almost always measured in terms of monetary value based on the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Experts also agree that approximately 80% of an organization’s or government’s effectiveness depends on the quality of the performance management system, and only 20 % on the quality of the people running the system.
There is a huge need for PM systems, PM framework and methodology for a business to track its progress and to ensure measured outputs for all inputs such as staff, capital, land, plant and machinery, customers and strategy. EDC has consulted to the Office of the Head of Civil Service Federation (OHCSF) to assist in drafting a new Performance Management System Framework and Guidelines for the FGN in 2023.
Staff capacity development and training
We conduct workshops and training sessions that address staff development needs. These are usually customized to match the exact needs, processes and practices of the organization and help to ensure that knowledge gaps that prevent efficiency are closed. We cover both bespoke training and generic training.
Most hands on skills development training requires the training to be conducted by using computers with training material available online or as electronic files that trainees can access with ease and take away on their laptops and even phones. We also deliver webinars for training and workshops using Zoom or MS Teams transcending distance, time and cost, offering flexibility to the learning process.
We have conducted several training workshops to public and private organizations. Our differentiator in training is that we do not focus on training on the technology platform (e.g. MS Excel or MS Word) but rather on the business requirement and outcomes such as generating and interpreting HR reports on staff structure, recruitment, promotion and termination or on financial and procurement reports.
Project and Change Management
The purpose of all consulting, is to achieve “Outcomes Realization” in line with strategy. Project outcomes are achieved by applying the project management methodology to deliver those outcomes and the people side of adoption of changes that enable new outcomes requires Change Management. At EDC we have extensive experience in both private and public sector program management and change management. The challenges of project management are overcome by leveraging the entire subset of skills across the client’s organization.
Each of our client engagements has some component of change management and customer sensitization to achieve buy-in, acceptance and a positive expectation of the new changes. This service has never been charged for as we provide it pro-bono to ensure project success.
